Cytochromes P450: terpene detoxification and pheromone production in bark beetles

چکیده
Bark beetles (family: Curculionidae; subfamily: Scolytinae) in the Dendroctonus and Ips genera are most destructive forest pests Northern hemisphere. They use cytochromes P450 (P450s) to detoxify tree-produced terpenes produce pheromones, de novo pheromone production oxidize odorants on antennae. Many spp. trans-verbenol as an aggregation pheromone, it is formed from host-tree produced ?-pinene hydroxylated by CYP6DE1 during larval stages, stored verbenyl ester of fatty acids, then released when female begins feeding a new host tree. hydroxylate myrcene form ipsdienol. Subsequent steps appropriate enantiomeric composition ipsdienol convert ipsenol. In this article we review recent progress elucidating functions P450s species doing so provide insights into role these enzymes phytochemical detoxification production.

A new approach to determine the capture conditions of bark beetles in pheromone-baited traps
Forests form an organic unity with a great number of organic and inorganic components and tend to maintain the sustainability of their existing balance. However, some factors which adversely affect the balance of nature may interrupt this sustainability. The epidemic which is formed by bark beetles in their spreading region, due to various factors, changes the stability so much that interferenc...
متن کاملHuman cytochromes P450 in health and disease.
There are 18 mammalian cytochrome P450 (CYP) families, which encode 57 genes in the human genome. CYP2, CYP3 and CYP4 families contain far more genes than the other 15 families; these three families are also the ones that are dramatically larger in rodent genomes. Most (if not all) genes in the CYP1, CYP2, CYP3 and CYP4 families encode enzymes involved in eicosanoid metabolism and are inducible...

Previous studies and data presented here suggest that odors from healthy host Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris) and nonhost Norway spruce (Picea abies), as well as major monoterpenes of these trees at natural release rates, significantly reduce the attraction of flying bark beetles, Pityogenes bidentatus, of both sexes to their aggregation pheromone components grandisol and cis-verbenol in the fie...
متن کاملInteractions of Root Disease and Bark Beetles
Associations between root diseases and bark beetles (Scolytidae) constitute some of the most serious pest complexes affecting forests in North America and elsewhere. The interactive functioning of these pests derives from the following relationships: 1) root diseases predispose trees to bark beetle infestation by lowering resistance, and perhaps increasing attractiveness, of trees to the attack...
